We are very curious situation:

After we installed a new Printer (OKI ES 5431) on our Windows System FileMaker 13 Crash EVERY Time we like to give a Order to print. (also without using myfmbutler PrinterSwitch... -> It looks like a FileMaker or Windows Problem....

BUT

If we remove the PrinterSwitch Plugin... We can print in FileMaker as usual... BEFORE we installed the new OKI Printer we could work proper with PrinterSwitch... no Problem... but now... we can Print only when PrinterSwitch is not active.

We use Windows 7 64 Bit German Version and
PrinterSwitch Version 2.2.0.0

Can someone help us? Thanks!

Matthias

    Hi Matthias,

Can you check you start up scripts and other triggers for script steps where PrinterSwitch is used?
I'm guessing that there are things happening before you try to print with the wrong printer.

For example, you can say: Pick the second printer in the list or the default printer and do a restore. If the default printer changed or that list changed and PrinterSwitch is sending a print setup to wrong printer, then it possible that there is a crash.

The best way to debug is to start the debugger and dataviewer before launching the application. And then go through the scripts and have a look at what is happening.

Please let me know if you were able to resolve the issue with this information.

    Kind regards,
    Jasper

    HI Jasper

We have exact the same Problem when we use a other file (for example a Starter File) from FileMaker 13 (without any PrinterSwitch Calls) only if we activate the Plugin on a machine with this new OKI Driver….

The Client already payed for a 5er License and 1 single License for Windows for the Company Brühlmann & Co, 9602 Bazenheid, Switzerland. I am only his Programmer, so I have to resolve his Problems :-)

I can try tomorrow to make more tests.

    Thanks for your Help.

    Hi Matthias,

Did you quit FileMaker before opening the starter solution? (and don't open anything else before/in the meantime?)

If possible, I'd like to have a TeamViewer when you're at your client to see what's happening on the computer.

    Kind regards,
    Jasper

    Hi Jasper

We checked again… We switch off the Computer and start again.

Then we made a new „Starter-Application“ on FM 13.
We switch off the Plugin and try to print to our new OKI Printer (without using the Plugin)
    -> It works
Then we switch on the Plugin, try to print to our new OKI Printer (without using the Plugin)
-> In the moment we release the Print Menu… the FileMaker crashed
We restart the Computer and start the Starter Apps
-> the same, the Computer Crash
We switch off the Plugin and try again to print on our OKI Printer (without using the Plugin)
    -> It works fine!

What can be the Problem? Today I will be not in the Office (Businessmeeting) but may be
we can arrange tomorrow morning a TeamViewer Session to the Windows Calculator and
    FileMaker 13 Advance.

Or do you have some other things we can check?

    Thanks for your Help

    Hi Matthias,

    Thank you for your feedback.
That is strange problem that I haven't seen before. I think it's best to have a TeamViewer meeting.

Is an other date possible for you? I am not in the office tomorrow.

    Kind regards,
    Jasper

    Hi Jasper

ONE little other Question…. We resolved almost the Problems… But STILL one exist… Maybe it is one that cant be resolved…

IF we Print WITH Dialog -> Everything works fine!
IF we Print WITHOUT Dialog -> It works NOT fine!

Is that a Problem we have to live with under Windows? OR is there a possibility to resolve this Problem, an we can print under
Windows without a Stop-Over at the Printing Dialog?

    Thank you for your Help!
