Issues with Dymo label printer and PrinterSwitch 2.2 on Windows

Are there any known issues with PrinterSwitch 2.2 and Dymo label printers on Windows? All of our Windows users that have Dymo label printers are having issues when trying to switch between printers. Seems to work fine for Mac users and for Windows users that have Zebra label printers. This is being used with FileMaker Pro 13.

Thanks,
Alan

Hi all... I am also having trouble with Dymo using PrinterSwitch 2.2 and FM13. My Dymo model is the LabelWriter 400. Is there a chance that there is a compatibility problem with the Dymo series?

    Hi guys,

We've tested a Dymo printer as well and there seems to be an issue.
    I'm afraid that it's a compatibility issue.

I'm going to check if there's a way to resolve this.

    Kind regards,
    Jasper

    Hello,

I am also experiencing issues with using Windows and Dymo label printers at my company.
Any time frame for information on this?
We are currently using version 2.1 but just got some new computers with Windows 7 which would not work. I downloaded the 2.2 version to test but no luck and found this support issue.
Our mac computers have been working fine.
We would be interested in purchasing a new version for use at our company if this can be resolved.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hey Jasper,

We are using Dymo Labelwriter 450 Twin Turbo label printers throughout the building.
Seems to work fine on Mac but not on Windows 7.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

What is the issue that you're experiencing? We have a Dymo Labelwriter 450 turbo in the office and I just it under Mac and Windows with the Capture and Restore example (just added an extra layout with a small label for the Dymo) and that works fine.

Here is my tweaked sample file: http://cl.ly/aExh/PrSw%20Capture-Restore.fmp12
Please do a new capture before testing this, otherwise it won't work.
And make sure the Dymo software is up to date.

Please let me know the result of this test.

This are the versions of the software that I used:
    PrinterSwitch 2.2.0.0
    FileMaker Pro Advanced 13v05
DYMO Label Software version 8.5.1 from the Dymo website.

    Kind regards,
    Jasper

I forgot to add this, but when doing the capture, the only thing you need to do is the following:
    - Choose the right label - Change from portrait to landscape

    Kind regards,

    Thanks Jasper.

I hope to take a look at this in the next couple of days. I am new here at the company so I will go through and make sure everything is developed the way it should for the plugin to work properly.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Jasper -

Thanks for your update… it looks like your responses got caught in our spam filter over the last 2 days. Hopefully I have that corrected now.

I have not yet tried your file, but in your recap below, you mentioned that you tested in Windows. Can you tell me what version you were using? Win 7, Win 8, etc? We are in Windows 7 and I believe Windows 7 may be part of our problem.

Please let me know when you have a chance.

    -Thanks,
    Norm

    Hey Jasper,

I just wanted to let you know I got the label printer working properly with the test file you had posted. I will have to go in and make sure the system is using the plugin appropriately like the test file.

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

That's good news. You could reuse (most of) the code from the example file in your solution.
Also make sure you have a separate layout that fits the Dymo label.

Don't hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.

    Kind regards,
    Jasper
