Windows 7

When version 2 of the plugin is installed. Printer Switch PDF writer becomes the default printer and native filemaker printer switching does not work. For example if I go in to print setup and change the printer name from Printer Switch PDF writer to Epson. The printer name changes but if I click on properties, I see the properties for the Printer Switch PDF writer. I only installed the plugin because I don't want to use the pdf writer. Yet whn Filemaker opens, the Printer Switch PDF writer apears in the printers control panel. In summary 2 problems:
1. I don't want to break the native Filemaker printer switching (entirely)
2. I don't want the Printer Switch PDF writer to be the default Filemaker printer

    Hi John,

We are aware of the issue where print job are being sent to the default printer and hope to address this issue in the next update to our plug-in, which should be arriving in June.

We are unable to reproduce, however, the problem where the PrinterSwitch PDF printer becomes the default printer… we'll investigate this further.

    Best regards,

We are having a simular problem (Win 7 64-bits). The/your PDF example works fine. However when we import the tables to our own solution PrinterSwitcher only prints PDF to the defailt printer (and it prints rubish). We made a very simple sample file which also has this problem here... It almost looks like only you're own file is allowed to do so..

    Hi John,

We have a beta update available at: (plug-in only) (installer)
(version is still 2.0.1, but mod date is June 15th)

Can you check whether this solves the issue ?

Ssomething must be said. We're using the pdf function for our runtime application. For a long time we're waiting for use with 64-bit systems. ntill a half year ago it wasn't a big problem because we did not see many 64-bit systems. But now it's different and our problem is growing with the day. We paid for the upgrade a few months ago but still can't use printerswitcher in 64-bits systems the way we used to in 32-bit systems. I think is't fair to ask you guyes to solves this isseu on a very short time notice. If you need to test on a system here, you're welcome.

    Hi Louk,

We tested your file "PrSwitch" that according to your earlier post also causes problems. We tested on on a Windows 7 64-bit (Ultimate) with several printers installed - our Oki office printer was set as the default printer.

We ran the "rebuild printer list" script, then ran the "Print to PDF and set file name" script, and the file "your_PDF_name_here" shows up in the Windows Temp directory without a problem.

After that we set the CurrentPrinter to our Oki printer and were able to print manually without a problem.

I can only assume, if it works in our example file, and it works in the example file that you have sent us, that there must be an error in the way it is implemented in your solution.
