AutoSender Preventing ODBC connectivity

I have just identified a huge problem for us. We have been holding back on deploying FMPSA-11 until AutoSender was FMPS11 compliant. AS-3 seemed to solve all of my problems, until yesterday. If AutoSender 3 is active, I am unable to make an ODBC DSN to my host server - the process just hangs. If AutoSender is turned off - everything is just fine.

I spent the best part of the day whittling it down to FMbutler - there is NO doubt that this is the offending piece of software.

I absolutely need to be able to provide hosted ODBC access, if AutoSender will not allow that, than I am going to have to find another email solution.

Is there something that can be changed in AS-3 as to allow ODBC connection to my hosted databases?

    Hi Alan,

    I have escalated this to our development team, in order to try and determine whether this is indeed caused by AutoSender - it could also be a bug in the FMS xDBC driver.

    I'll keep you posted.

    Thanks Luk - I was hoping you guys would jump on it. I spent quite a bit of time on a paid FileMaker Technical support call, because I was convinced it WAS a FMPS issue. However, we went through the process of turning off all extensions, and odbc connectivity was perfect. Selectively turning services back on one by one, and it was the myfmbutler service that nukes the odbc connectivity.

    Unfortunately, due to illness, we have not yet been able to test this further. I will keep you informed.

    Hi Alan,

    We created a test version that now has an option in the Prefs "Reuse JDBC connection", that can be switched off in cases like yours.
